galeria dels àngels announces its new project:

LEOPOLDO POMÉS (Barcelona, 1931)
WORKS I EXHIBITIONS I CV I NEWS & PRESS

Niña en la nieve, 1954. 33 x 26 cm. Gelatina de plata

In his photography, Pomés explores personal and intimate fields, constructing images of deep mystery that escape the anecdote and the obvious social instant. In his work, he plays between fiction and reality, creating images that allow for a universal and contemporary interpretation.

He is a self-taught artist, constructing his view of the world by sharing conversations and discussions with artists like Joan Brossa, Antoni Tàpies o Modest Cuixart. In 1955 he became publicly known as a photographer in the celebrated Laietana galleries. That exhibition marked his career as an artist and he received compliments from critics of the era, like Juan Eduardo Cirlot.
